Sudoku Maya Review
Sudoku Maya is a fun variation of the classic math-based puzzle game. The objective remains the same, but the game is spruced up with tropical images and the addition of Mayan symbols. In addition, a number of different game modes are offered to keep the experience fresh and challenging.
As in the paper versions, you have to arrange numbers in groups on a 9x9 grid so that no number repeats in a row or column. The differences with this version lie primarily in the substitution of numbers by symbols, the use of more complex symbol layouts and the inclusion of an "undo" button that can be used to erase a wrong answer.
The game offers several "helps" to ease puzzle solution (purists consider this cheating). Choosing Hint on the puzzle screen and clicking a given square will automatically enter the correct digit or symbol, while the Selection Wheel option shows valid choices in red, helping you to reduce your notation efforts. The timer is also useful, as a failure to solve a puzzle in the allotted time results in the loss of gold.
While some minor gripes exist, they do not detract from the overall enjoyment of this puzzle game. For those who enjoy Sudoku and Mayan culture, this is a great casual game that will provide hours of entertainment.
